Brunch is often associated with Mother’s Day, but what about Father’s Day? Here is a refreshed list of some very Austin-y Father’s Day experiences to celebrate with the dads, stepdads, or father figures in your lives.

Dad’s choice! With so many kid friendly options, the only challenge will be which one to choose! Thankfully we have a great guide for you.

Take a hike

We’re an outdoorsy family so any excuse to take a family hike is always high on our list. I recommend pairing a family friendly hike with a dip in one of the many Austin swimming holes like Deep Eddy Pool, Barton Springs, McKinney Falls, or Krause Springs.

Rent a boat, paddleboard, or take a ride on the lake

Speaking of water activity, renting a boat for a few hours or the day is a fun thing to do in this summer heat. We have rented pontoon boats for several families and party barges for large events. Pack a picnic and spend a few hours out on the lake for an unforgettable family experience.

Play a round of golf

While 18 holes of traditional golf isn’t always a fun or feasible family experience for all, Austin offers many different golf experiences. For the littlest ones, have some fun at Peter Pan mini golf or  Monster Mini Golf or try a round of disc golf at Zilker park.  When the kids were little, we loved to put the little one in the backpack carrier while the toddler ran around and we squeezed in as many holes of disc golf as we could. For the teen crowd, check out the popular Top Golf (reservations recommended), Butler Pitch and Putt  for a par three course, or even footgolf for the soccer aficianados (a hidden gem at the Harvey Penick course). Or check out Popstroke which brings new spin to mini golf with next-generation technology and custom-designed courses – two local locations Popstroke Austin and the newly opened Cedar Park location.

Check out some cars

With the World Cup in full swing, this is also a great time to spoil dad with his favorite team gear, or watch a game on tv at one of the many Austin venues showing the games. Father’s Day weekend kicks off with USA vs Australia – there will be 12 games from Jun 19-21 for your soccer fans!

Hopefully this gives you some new ideas on ways to spend your Father’s Day weekend. You could even mix and match and create a very curated itinerary to celebrate the dad in your life, while having some fun for the whole family too!
